“For people who are not familiar with the costs of running an impact campaign, it can be surprising when filmmakers keep raising money for a film that is ‘already finished’. Having an open, honest and early conversation about the need to continue fundraising after the film is released will serve you well.”
— Julia Bacha, Just Vision

What do we raise funding for?

We are rising funding to continue and expand the Sisters of the Wilderness social impact programme. We would like to get the film seen as widely as possible and to get it seen by the right people in the right way. The outreach and engagement programme include: screenings and talks within communities, schools, higher education institutions, conferences, corporates, decision makers forums etc. So far we had more than 80 screenings worldwide but we would like to enhance our communications and reach a wider and diverse audience via multiple communication platforms, digital and physical, to raise awareness, inspire, communicate and engage relevant audiences worldwide.

How will the money be used?

Your contribution will go towards:

  • Editorial and design of communication and educational materials

  • Digital communications and social media

  • International film versions (language versions)

  • Educational screenings and events

  • Communications consultant / publicist

  • Campaign co-ordinator

  • Campaign evaluation

About the Sisters of the Wilderness social impact project, in brief:

The project’s Key Impact Goals are:

  • Young people empowerment and leadership development, using the power of wild nature. Special focus on women empowerment.

  • Re-connect audiences to wild nature and raise awareness to the value of nature to our well-being.

  • Help the efforts to save the iMfolozi wilderness from the threat of unsustainable mining and illegal hunting of its unique rhino population and other endangered species.

In 2018 we launched a programme of free screenings at rural and under-served communities in South Africa. Additionally, as part of the global social impact programme we are keen to screen the film at educational institutions, conferences, events, businesses, policy-makers forums etc. and to collaborate with organisations and individuals who are passionate about young people empowerment and leadership development and re-connecting people and nature.

We would love to talk to you if you wish to get involved and or collaborate - feel free to contact us.

We are looking for a fiscal sponsors in the UK, US and South Africa, to enable tax-deductible donations and UK gift aid donations. If your non-for-profit organisation is in a position to act as a fiscal sponsor for the Sisters of the Wilderness impact project please get in touch.
